Working for Noble REMC for as long as I have has allowed me to drive nearly every square inch of our system. It’s made me even more appreciative of the different types of landscapes throughout the multiple counties we serve.  One part of the drive that always catches my attention is the buildings. I appreciate… Continue reading.

Most of us were disappointed, yet understanding, about the need to cancel the traditional local summer fairs for the safety of the community. Luckily, 4-H’ers were still able to participate in their programs, with restrictions put in place for social distancing and judging remotely. Noble REMC traditionally volunteers to judge local 4-H Electric projects, and… Continue reading.

The energy industry is undergoing rapid change, and technology is paving the way for innovation in the way energy is used, produced, stored and shared.  While the changing energy market has created more options for consumers, it has also resulted in more utility scams and misleading information surrounding solar installations in particular. That’s because of… Continue reading.

When you hear the title of our safety initiative, Commitment to Zero Contacts, you may envision our line workers out on site, up in the air in a bucket truck. But the program extends much further than that. Last year, Noble REMC signed its pledge to the safety program created by the National Rural Electric… Continue reading.

Lessons from the storm

By

In the midst of trying to help, sometimes our actions can do more harm than good. June brought one of the worst storms northeast Indiana has experienced in decades. Downed trees and power lines left a portion of our service territory without power. While Noble REMC members weren’t affected as much as other co-ops, there… Continue reading.

This year brought a new position to Noble REMC — utility laborer. Needing someone who was able to work between the different facets of our operations department — line work and right-of-way clearing —Brendan Michael fit the bill. Brendan comes to the REMC after two and a half years with Duke Energy, where he learned… Continue reading.

It’s a familiar scene: poles and wires stretching into the distance alongside a rural highway. This image might appear no different now than it did many years ago. But look more closely.  Invisible to most of us is an overlay of new equipment — automated metering infrastructure, sophisticated computer networks, wireless communications, sensors and fibers… Continue reading.

Annual Meeting Goes Virtual

By

When Noble REMC employees would normally be setting up tents and unloading soda, buns and chips, we were instead testing out our training room to broadcast our annual meeting live on Facebook. It was a strange feeling, knowing we wouldn’t get to celebrate with you, our members, in person with our traditional picnic, but safety… Continue reading.
