In May 2013, WIN Energy REMC introduced a program that has become a favorite among electric cooperatives called Operation Round Up. As a member of WIN Energy REMC, you have a simple but powerful way to make a difference right here at home by participating in this program.
Operation Round Up is a voluntary charitable initiative that rounds your electric bill up to the next whole dollar. A few cents can make a big impact, directly supporting local charitable organizations and community needs.
Each quarter, the WIN Energy REMC Community Trust, Inc., a separate organization led by a board of fellow cooperative members, meets to review applications and distribute funds on your behalf. It’s a true example of neighbors helping neighbors.
This year brought even more good news. Thanks to Hoosier Energy’s commitment to invest in cooperative community programs, our funds have grown significantly. Over the next five years, Operation Round Up will receive an additional $25,000 to invest in local charities. That’s a meaningful boost that will help us extend our impact even further across the communities we serve.
Since the program began, we have awarded 265 grants totaling more than $827,000 to local organizations. That’s an incredible milestone, made possible by you, our members.
If you’re not sure whether you are enrolled in Operation Round Up, we are happy to help. Just give us a call at 800-882-5140, and one of our member service representatives can check your status. Participation is easy, your maximum annual contribution is just $11.88, and it’s tax-deductible.
For local charitable organizations, we encourage you to apply for an Operation Round Up grant. The next application deadline is Aug. 1, with funds distributed in September.
At its heart, Operation Round Up is about small change creating meaningful impact. Together, we’re strengthening our communities one dollar and one act of generosity at a time.
