For the second straight year, Hoosier Energy member cooperatives awarded over $100,000 in college scholarships to local students.
A total of 94 students were selected as recipients, with many of the scholarships funded by Operation Round Up.
Bartholomew County REMC awarded a pair of $1,500 scholarships to Braelei Ernest and Kaelynn Engleau. The annual Alex Barkes Memorial Scholarship winner, receiving $6,000, was Mariah Vail, who will attend IU Indy.
Clark County REMC awarded 15 scholarships, highlighted by the $2,500 Cindy Hockensmith Memorial Scholarship to Hailey Browning, who will attend Purdue. Receiving $1,000 scholarships to IU Southeast were Munir Abraham, Kylie Ball, Skye Berry, Evan O’Neil, Carsten Scott, Christian Stutzman, Zella Trindenmar, Claire Tripure, William Bowlin Voskuhl, Lisa Weeks, and Joseph Williams. Also receiving $1,000 scholarships were Ariel Robb and Danika Walker to Ivy Tech, as well as Sophie Henley to Purdue Polytechnic Institute.
Decatur County REMC awarded a trio of $1,000 scholarships to Catherine Bradshaw, Julia Meyer, and Avalyn Stricker.
The six winners of a $1,500 scholarship from Harrison REMC were Dakota Cortie, Anna Haskins, Emilia Hudson, Dakota McClure, Ava Schmelz, and Lucas Weber.
Henry County REMC’s six recipients of $1,000 scholarships were Sydney Crisp, Karter Gray, Zavier Hanson, Zane Mitchell, Gabrielle Patrick, and Barron Smith.
Jackson County REMC announced a trio of $1,000 scholarship winners. They were Jenna Hollen, Layla Manship, and Anna Obermeyer.
Orange County REMC announced a pair of $2,250 scholarships awarded to Laney Cambron and Josie Robinson.
RushShelby Energy awarded six $2,000 scholarships. Scholarship application winners were Lila French and Eli Sego. Luck of the Draw winners at the Annual Meeting were Jacob Branson, Silas Frye, Connor McClure, and Elizabeth Nobbe.
South Central Indiana REMC named five winners of its $1,000 John D. Rudd Scholarships. They are Noah Burns, Boston Chambers, Hannah Crain, Sarah Nichols, and Rayce Wolff.
Southeastern Indiana REMC announced a trio of $500 scholarship winners. They are Quinn Burdette, Lindsey Gross, and Caleb Kraus.
Southern Indiana Power announced nine recipients of $500 scholarships. Winners were Amara Combs, Elizabeth Daming, Alexa Fleck, Kailey Gibbs, Makenna Labbart, Molley Meyer, Elijah Pund, Ava Sublett, and Reece Winter.
Wayne-White Counties Electric Cooperative announced 13 scholarship winners. Weston Bierman, Roan Durmus, and Sawyer Patterson were awarded the $1,000 Frontier Community College Lineman Scholarship in honor of Gerry Kinney. Earning $500 scholarships through the Annual Meeting drawing were Annsley Healy, Jackson Hensley, Walker Isle, Kelsey Lowery, Liam McCarthy, Ashtyn Rahmoeller, Owen Russell, Alexa Windle, Dawson Wood, and Sawyer Woodrow.
There were 11 winners of a $750 scholarship from Whitewater Valley REMC. They were Brooklynne Adams, Rayann Eley, Jaymi Hensley, Gwynn Higbie, Whitney King, Livia Maddock, Rosalia Schwarb, Kendall Spears, Carson Terrell, Vanessa Vance, and Joshua Welch.
Finally, WIN Energy REMC awarded $1,000 scholarships to 10 recipients. Winners were Samuel Couch, Kenzie Ellis, Spencer Hanks, Alli Hayden, Layla Johnson, Kali Kelm-Kixmiller, Abigail Shrever, Kassandra Small, Emma Stine, and Iva Summers.
