One of KV REMC’s most significant infrastructure projects, our fiber loop, is complete. Launched in 2021, this multi-phased project strengthens our electric system and allows for the implementation of future technologies that will enhance service for our membership.

The fiber loop connects KV REMC’s headquarters with our substations through high-speed communications pathways, giving our employees real-time data to make faster operational decisions. It also provides the foundation for smart grid tools, such as advanced metering and automation, to help members better understand and manage their energy use.

Beyond improving our own reliability, the project also opens doors for local internet providers to lease fiber strands, helping bring dependable broadband to underserved rural communities.
