A team of KV REMC lineworkers demonstrated their exceptional skills and training at the Indiana Electric Cooperative Lineman Rodeo, held this August at the Hendricks County Fairgrounds. Especially, one team member earned a second-place trophy, highlighting the team’s impressive performance.

The two-day event brought together 29 teams and 67 individual competitors representing 23 Indiana electric cooperatives. Kankakee Valley REMC’s team consisted of Apprentices Gage Granadino, Jordan Winings, and Phillip Marek, Groundman Hayden Sanderson, and Linemen Tim Morgart, Logan Pollei, TJ Wherrett, Zack Walters, and Chris Lawler.

These lineworkers competed in events that simulated real-world challenges — such as the hurtman rescue, three-phase dead-end changeouts, fiberglass cross arm changeouts, individual knot tying, and more. Each event tested the critical skills that lineworkers use every day, emphasizing safety, teamwork, knowledge, and precision.

A highlight of the competition was Gage Granadino’s outstanding performance, securing second place in the challenging hurtman rescue event.

“We’re proud of the KV REMC lineworkers who competed in this year’s rodeo,” said Jeff Newburn, line superintendent. “Our linemen take great pride in their work, and their performance at the rodeo showcased their exceptional skill, dedication, and commitment to their craft.”
