Whether you’re planning a new construction project or preparing for unexpected outages, a little planning can go a long way. Here are two important reminders to help keep projects on track and members prepared.
Submit your application before beginning work
If you’re planning new construction, an electrical service upgrade, or another project that requires KV REMC’s involvement, be sure to submit the appropriate application before you or your electrical contractor begins work. To access applications, go to kvremc.com. From the homepage, select the “Member Services” tab, then click on “Service Requests.”
Submitting your application before contacting KV REMC to speak with an engineer helps ensure they have the information needed to review your project and answer your questions accurately. Members and electrical contractors can also find KV REMC’s electrical service standards and wiring diagrams online. Reviewing these resources and applying early can help prevent delays and keep your project moving safely and efficiently.
Inform us of life-support equipment
Planning ahead is also important for power outages. While many of us rely on electricity every day, some KV REMC members depend on it to operate life-support equipment. KV REMC maintains a medical necessity list for households with an individual who relies on this equipment. Members on the list can be notified before a planned outage, giving them time to make alternative arrangements.
Restoration during an unplanned outage, such as a storm, begins with repairing the electric system’s main lines before individual services are restored. For this reason, all members, especially those with medical needs, should have a backup plan in place in case of an extended outage.
