Harrison REMC is pleased to invite you to your cooperative’s 84th annual meeting which will be held on Tuesday, May 10, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Harrison County Fairgrounds in Corydon. This issue of Indiana Connection contains your registration card and other information regarding the upcoming meeting.

Due to the positive response to last year’s meeting, we decided to implement that option again, but also give members the opportunity to gather if they choose.

At this year’s meeting, all members will remain in their cars and drive through to register and vote. After casting your ballot, you will have the option of leaving the venue or stopping in the Windell building to enjoy some food and activities and visit informational booths. Members will not be required to attend a sit-down meeting. Just as last year was a busy year at the co-op, 2022 is showing it will fly by with the same fast pace. I want to update you on what has been going on at your cooperative.

Harrison REMC has been replacing end-of-life overhead copper conductors across our system for the last six years. This conductor is copper that is bonded to steel (for structural integrity). We have completed 25-30 miles of copper replacement per year. This project will replace this aged infrastructure to help increase reliability for our members and safety for our linemen.

A new substation was constructed at the Lanesville interchange in late 2020. This substation is referred to as “Farnsley” due to its location off Farnsley Road. This substation relieved loading from the existing Lanesville substation and will support growth for commercial/industrial/residential loads near the Lanesville interchange.

A new substation is scheduled for construction in 2022. This substation will be located north of the town of Greenville, along Pekin Road. This substation will relieve loading from the Greenville and Bradford substations. It is scheduled to be complete by the end of 2022.

Our linemen, engineers and contractors have been hard at work with the new Amazon installation. This is a huge project, and we are excited to see the positive changes to our service area and what it will bring to the communities.

We surveyed the membership in 2021 to measure their level of satisfaction with the REMC. We are happy to announce that we achieved the highest customer satisfaction score in the history of the REMC with an American Customer Satisfaction Index (ASCI) score of 85.

And last, but certainly not least, our safety culture at the REMC continues to be top notch with zero lost time hours in 2021.

We are thankful for the members of Harrison REMC and are committed to serve you. We hope to see you at the annual meeting. Please review this issue for more information about the meeting, voting options, bill credit and other information about the day.
