Each year, Jay County REMC sponsors students to attend two unique programs — Camp Kilowatt and Indiana Youth Tour to Washington, D.C. As we approach the March 1 deadline to apply for the 2024 programs, here’s what last year’s attendees had to say about the programs and about encouraging their peers to apply.

WHY DID YOU WANT TO GO TO CAMP?

“I wanted to apply to this camp to meet new people and I thought it would be something fun to do during the summer. I knew that if I didn’t go that I would miss out on the opportunity to go in the future.”

— Ayla Jackson

WHAT WOULD YOU TELL PEERS ABOUT CAMP KILOWATT?

“Camp Kilowatt is full of fun and you can learn a bunch of stuff about electricity. You can also make a lot of new friends. You’ll be glad you went.”
— Alexa Ridenour

WHY APPLY FOR YOUTH TOUR?

Isaiah White said he wanted to attend the Indiana Youth Tour to see everything in D.C. and to see it with the other delegates on the trip. He enjoyed visiting the museums most of all. A highlight for White was visiting the Gettysburg battlefield on the way to the nation’s capital.

“Anyone who is thinking about applying should definitely do it. The experience of seeing D.C. was worth it.”
