When outages occur

April showers and spring storms are on their way! Here are some things to keep in mind if you are experiencing a power outage.

Before calling KREMC, check first to see if others in your area still have power. If they do, check your home’s panel box in case of a blown fuse or tripped circuit. If the outage is widespread or you cannot find the cause on your end, then tell us.

To report an outage, call 574-267-6331 and press 1. Once we know about the outage, our crews will work diligently to restore power.

Make sure you and your family know what to do to stay safe and comfortable during an outage. Consider creating a power outage emergency kit. The kit should include essentials like water, non-perishable foods, flashlights and fresh batteries, a battery-operated radio, portable power supplies, and a first aid kit. You might also include books, games, or puzzles.
