October is National Co-op Month, a time when cooperatives across the country pause to celebrate what makes us different. Its also the perfect moment to thank you, our members, because we wouldn’t be here without you.

What makes a cooperative special is simple: we exist to serve you, not to make profits. Were member-owned and locally governed, which means you have a real say in how we operate. The board members you elect live right here in our communities. They face the same challenges, share the same hopes, and care about the same things you do.

That local focus drives every decision we make. Our mission is clear: to provide safe, reliable electric service at the best value to our member-consumers while supporting the communities we serve. Thats why we continue investing in our electric grid to make it stronger, finding ways to keep costs manageable, and being ready to roll when storms hit. Our crews live here too when the lights go out, they’re working hard to get them back on quickly because they know their families and neighbors are counting on them.

But being a co-op is about more than keeping the lights on. From safety demonstrations and sponsoring youth programs to volunteering with local organizations, were always looking for ways to give back. Helping our communities thrive has been part of our mission since the very beginning.

Were also looking ahead. As technology changes and electricity demand grows, were preparing to meet those needs while keeping power affordable and reliable. You have told us those things matter most, and were listening.

Thats the cooperative difference. Youre not just a customer youre a member, an owner, and part of something bigger that keeps our communities strong and connected.
