Peach Cookies

  • 1½ cups sugar
  • Dash of salt
  • 1 cup oil
  • 1½ t. vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 3½ cups flour
  • 1 t. nutmeg
  • 1 t. cinnamon
  • 1 cup buttermilk with 1½ t. baking soda
  • 2 peaches, peeled and finely diced
  • White sugar


Blend sugar, salt, oil, vanilla and eggs until well mixed. Sift flour with nutmeg and cinnamon. Add this alternately with buttermilk/soda mixture. Stir in diced peaches gently. Drop dough by teaspoonsful on cookie sheet. Sprinkle with white sugar. Bake at 375 F for 8–10 minutes.

Cook's Notes

Cookies should be cake-like. Recipe makes 50 cookies. They are great for snacking or enjoying at a tea party.
