Orange County Fiber, the wholly-owned subsidiary and division of Orange County REMC, has acquired NetsurfUSA and CallUSA of French Lick as of Aug. 1. Adding this capability to the division while planning to provide high-speed fiber optic internet service to our members beginning in 2018, creates a tremendous value to the REMC members, current NetsurfUSA and CallUSA customers and southern Indiana residents.

Employees from Orange County REMC, NetsurfUSA and
CallUSA listen to the announcement of the REMC’s acquisition.

The leadership and staff of NetsurfUSA and CallUSA remain engaged during this time of transition and will continue to be involved throughout the deployment of fiber and improved wireless services. The acquisition creates a unique capability for the REMC, establishing a state-of-the-art internet company. Orange County Fiber brings a member focus to the forefront, a focus that will set this internet and phone provider apart from other commercial providers. I am confident all NetsurfUSA and CallUSA customers will see improved service and responsiveness in the future due to this acquisition, and this change is also a great benefit to everyone that we serve.

During the time of transition, over the next 60-90 days, all NetsurfUSA and CallUSA customers should continue calling 812-849-2050 locally or 877-849-2875 toll-free.

The fiber project continues to move forward as discussed during our annual meeting in June. The construction contracts have been awarded with the first fiber scheduled to be hung Sept. 4.

We encourage ALL members of the community to visit the new Orange County Fiber website at www.orangecountyfiber.coop. This site includes details of the planned construction, package prices, and more importantly, will allow you to enter your home address and complete a short survey to show us your interest in our services. Please know that your interest will have a direct impact on where we deploy in the subsequent phases following phase I.
