KREMC recently welcomed Sondrea Hamilton to the team as their Chief Financial Officer. We sat down with Hamilton to learn more about her.

What brought you to work for KREMC?

I was drawn to KREMC because the companys values align with mine, and I like the organizations commitment to the local community.

Can you share a bit about your prior work experience?

I have spent 24 years of my career in executive leadership, overseeing the financial performance, accounting management, and strategic planning of a non-profit continuing care retirement community. I have a strong track record of improving financial outcomes, streamlining business operations, developing and executing growth strategies, leading culture change, and ensuring regulatory and financial compliance. I left my previous role to gain experience in other industries.

I worked for an agricultural manufacturer for the last year and a half before joining KREMC. I thoroughly enjoyed my time as a leader there. However, I was ready to step back into a leadership role with a company I knew I could contribute to and be at long term.

What are you most excited about regarding your new role as CFO at KREMC?

I love accounting and tremendously enjoy the challenge of keeping a company financially healthy in an ethical manner. I am just as passionate about leading with integrity and empathy while helping others to grow and become great leaders themselves.

What have your first few weeks been like?

The first week was full of meeting new people and getting user accounts set up for myself, as well as tons of learning more about cooperatives and the industry.

The second week consisted of more learning. However, I felt I could connect the dots on many questions I had. I could even contribute by preparing the board presentation and completing a few compliance tasks. I am excited to get settled in and continue to learn.

What else would you like to share with us regarding your life outside of work?

I have lived in this community my entire life. I have four amazing children, three girls and one boy, and six grandchildren whom I adore. I attend Warsaw Community Church. I love spending time with family, including my parents, who are very special to me. I love camping in the summer and fall. I like watching just about any sport, but basketball is my favorite.
