Doug Wilcox | District 3
Doug Wilcox is a lifelong resident of Wabash County. He and his wife, Amy, have two adult children. Wilcox is a vice president/senior commercial loan officer at First Farmers Bank and Trust, based at the Huntington and Wabash locations. He serves on the Huntington County United Economic Development Board of Directors and on the Agricultural Committee of the Indiana Bankers Association. Wilcox and his wife have been members of Wabash County REMC for 31 years.

Joh Smith | District 6
“It is my goal to continue to implement and govern sound financial policies that will promote quality service, dependable electricity, and high-speed internet service for Heartland REMC members into the future.”
Joh Smith and his wife live in Warren and have two grown children and eight grandchildren. He worked in the banking industry for 23 years and is currently employed full-time as a farmer, involved in both livestock and grain production.
Smith is a past president of the Heartland REMC Board of Directors and has earned the designation of Certified Credentialed Director. Through the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA), he received his Board Leadership Certification for Directors. He holds an Associate’s degree in accounting from Huntington University, a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Marion College, and graduated from the Graduate School of Banking in Madison, Wisconsin. He has been a member of the REMC since 1988.
Smith served for nine years on the Huntington County FSA County Committee, including three years as chairperson. He also served as treasurer of the Wells County Junior Achievements and as a member of the audit committee for Huntington County United Way, and is currently a member of the Solid Rock Church in Warren, where he has served on the church audit committee.

Alan Schlagenhauf | District 11

Alan Schlagenhauf and his wife live in Bluffton and have three grown children and six grandchildren. He is a longtime resident of Wells County and has been a farmer in the area for over 50 years. He served for six years in the Indiana National Guard.
Schlagenhauf has been a REMC director since 1985. During that time, he served as treasurer for several years. He is currently representing Heartland REMC on Wabash Valley Power Alliance’s Board of Directors. During his time as a REMC director, Schlagenhauf earned the designation of Certified Credentialed Director. He is a member of the American Legion.
