In the wake of the damaging storms and tornadoes that swept through our service territory earlier this year, safety has remained top of mind for our team and community. We saw firsthand the danger that downed power lines and storm damage can bring — not only to our members but also to first responders, road crews, and utility workers.

To help raise awareness and reinforce the importance of electrical safety, Marshall County REMC will host a Live Line Safety Demonstration during the Marshall County Fair on Monday, July 14, at 6:30 p.m. This live event will show how dangerous electricity can be when proper precautions aren’t taken and offer critical, real-world safety tips.

The demo will be led by Marshall County REMC linemen and key staff in partnership with the Marshall County Emergency Management Agency, the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, the Marshall County Highway Department, and Mint City Tree Service. Their support reflects our shared commitment to protecting our communities during and after emergencies.

We especially encourage local first responders and emergency personnel to attend. This is a valuable opportunity to better understand the risks associated with downed lines and other electrical hazards and to learn how to respond safely in the field. Members of the community are also invited to attend to gain some general knowledge about electrical safety.

At Marshall County REMC, we believe that safety starts with education and preparation. Whether you’re a lineworker or a neighbor helping clean up after a storm, knowing what to do can save lives.

We hope to see you there.
