The Blessings in a Backpack program at LaVille Elementary received a $1,000 grant from the Operation Round Up program to help launch its new weekend backpack program.

The Blessings in a Backpack program mobilizes communities, individuals, and resources to provide weekend meals for elementary school children in food-insecure households.

The next round of grants will be awarded in October. Charitable organizations within the Marshall County REMC service territory are eligible to apply. Organizations may be granted only once in a 12-month cycle. The organization does not have to be a member of Marshall County REMC.
