DANIEL HOUCHIN

Daniel Houchin has served Orange County REMC’s District 1 since 2020. This district includes Spice Valley Township and all of Marion Township in Lawrence County served by the cooperative. He obtained his Credentialed Cooperative Director certificate from the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association in his first term.

Houchin is a 2007 graduate of West Washington High School. He resides west of Mitchell with his wife, Katie, and their two children — Rhett and Ryleigh. In his free time, he enjoys improving his cattle herd and helping plant/harvest with his family’s farming operation.

Houchin is an active member of Mitchell Lodge #228 F&AM and the Lawrence County Past Master’s Association. He is employed with the town of Orleans as its town superintendent.


Ben Lindsey
BEN LINDSEY

Ben Lindsey of French Lick is a lifelong resident of Orange County and has represented District 5 for the past 24 years on the REMC board. He also served the board as its secretary, vice president and president. 

Lindsey has been married to the former Janice Lewis for 62 years. The couple has two daughters, Rhonda Orr of French Lick and Liz Ann Stinson of Stilesville; three grandchildren — Lindsey, Benjamin and Robby; and one great-granddaughter, Willow Rain.

He is a full-time farmer who owns a grain and cattle operation located between French Lick and Paoli on Sulpher Creek. Before becoming a farmer in 1984, Lindsey partnered with a broker in the Lindsey Ford Tractor Dealership for 23 years. Additionally, he was a contracted school bus driver for the Springs Valley Community School for 26 years.

Lindsey has served his community and country throughout the years as a member of the United States Air Force Reserve, as a volunteer firefighter in French Lick and as a Springs Valley Jaycee. He also represented area farmers for nine years on the Farm Service Agency committee.

Lindsey is a member of Springs Valley Wesleyan Church and a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #76 in French Lick. He enjoys playing golf, riding the “trike” with Jan and spending time with family, friends, dogs and two mini horses.
