The Operation Round Up® board awarded $6,500 to a total of five organizations to support the work they do in the community.

Argos Community Development Corporation received funding to advertise the Argos Farmers Market, in the hopes of growing the program. Argos Community Development Corporation’s purpose is to bring people together in the community.

Bikes for Kids, Inc. received funding to help purchase bikes and helmets for every second grader and their siblings who are on government assistance or in ALICE families throughout Marshall County. CASA of Marshall County received funding to help pay for training that is required for each CASA volunteer. These trained volunteers are court appointed by a Marshall County judge to work in the best interests of the children involved.

Drew’s Gift of Music received funding to help pay for extensive refurbishment, repair and enhancement procedures on its increased supply of instruments. Drew’s Gift of Music’s mission is to provide the students and youth of Marshall County with access to musical instruments, financial support for instruction and scholarships for advanced musical education.

Pack Away Hunger, Inc. received funding for the Triton Jr./Sr. High School Day of Giving Meal Pack to be held in conjunction with the school’s Day of Giving on Sept. 22. Pack Away Hunger’s mission is to eliminate hunger in Indiana and around the world by providing nutritious food, hunger education and service opportunities.

The Operation Round Up program allows Marshall County REMC members to reach out to worthy causes in the community and work together to help others. Thank you to those members who round up their electric bill to the next highest dollar each month and to the Marshall County Community Foundation for making these donations possible.

The next round of grants will be awarded in October. Charitable organizations within the Marshall County REMC service territory are eligible to apply. The organization does not have to be a member of Marshall County REMC. Applications are available at marshallremc.com.
