August is already upon us, and the summer is slowly coming to a close. For us, it has been a full season of serving our members and community. Just last month, we were at the Kosciusko County Community Fair handing out water bottles and providing games and prizes for kids. It was a fun-filled day of connecting with you all! 

The end of the summer means that for many students and parents, it’s time to get back into the rhythm of the school year. As school begins, we will gear up our Live Line Trailer and schedule field trips with local schools to educate fourth graders on how electricity works and how to stay safe around electric lines. On another note, applications for our EnviroWatts Grant Program are open. 

This program benefits non-profit organizations that are focused on improving the environment locally in Kosciusko County and the surrounding area. Projects can include a wide variety of activities, such as educating on environmental issues, developing renewable energy, reducing energy use, improving air or water quality, encouraging recycling, and more. 

This program is made possible through voluntary member participation. Members who choose to participate donate 1
cent per kilowatt-hour they use, up to a maximum of $7.50 per member per month. Those kilowatt-hours are also guaranteed to be generated from a renewable, environmentally preferred source thanks to a partnership with Wabash Valley Power Alliance. As we soak up the last rays of summer and head into the fall, we remain committed to our members and our community through providing educational resources, investing in local non-profits, and bettering our environment.
