Carroll White REMC is in the process of changing out the demand response units associated with our water heater and air conditioner program. Some members may remember this as the load management switches from years ago.
We are beginning the process of changing these nearly 4,000 units on our system due to changes in technology and communications. For those who have purchased a water heater in the past 5-7 years and have been told a unit will be installed at some point, this is the time.
We have three resources we are using to schedule these changeouts. Our energy advisor, Quinton Randle, and new contract worker, Tom Thomas, are working to contact members of our newest substations first. Those substations would be the Jackson sub near Idaville; the Freedom sub near Delphi and the Andersons; and the Bringhurst sub near Flora. Members on the southern part of our system will remember Tom Thomas as our meter tech who retired in 2021 after 19 years of service. We are also using our water heater repair service as a resource to change out the old units while they are doing a repair.
The process to change out all of the units will take a few years so this will be an ongoing project. For members to continue to receive the free maintenance on the water heaters you will need to have this device changed out.
if you have any questions, please contact Quinton Randle at 800-844-7161 or by email at qrandle@cwremc.coop.
