Carroll White REMC’s new director of engineering, Jason Armold, brings years of valuable experience to the co-op. He has worked in the utility industry since 2013, with positions at NiSource, NIPSCO, and Citizens Energy Group. Prior to that, he spent 15 years in commercial construction.
“I look forward to serving our members and bringing my leadership skills to Carroll White REMC,” Armold said. “I understand the utility regulatory environment and leadership. I enjoy serving people and trying to put myself in others’ places to understand their perspectives.”
Armold has a unique connection with the REMC. His grandfather, Kenneth Armold, served on the White County REMC board from 1949-54. “I hope to serve the membership well in memory of my grandpa,” he said.
Armold was born in Memphis, Tennessee, but was raised in Rensselaer. In 1991, he received an associate degree in aviation maintenance technology from Vincennes University. Two years later, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University with a major in aeronautical technology and a minor in electrical engineering technology. Armold received his Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2016.
He and his wife, Jennifer, live in Rensselaer. The couple has five children: Tim, Jennelle, Madeline, Abigail (Nick), and Isabel. The Armolds have two grandchildren: Noah and Charlotte.
“Jennifer runs our ice cream shop, Brick Street Ice Cream in Rensselaer,” Armold said. He, meanwhile, serves the community as a Jasper Country councilman. His hobbies include building and construction.
