Safe clearances are maintained by removing select trees and pruning limbs that are in close proximity to power lines. Crews are identified by a magnetic logo on their vehicles.

Our tree trimming process involves three phases to ensure efficient and thorough work.

Trimming: The first crew trims the limbs and branches. These branches will then be piled up.

Chipping: A wood chipper will then chip up the limbs and branches, anything under approximately 6 inches in diameter. The chips will then be hauled away. The remaining wood pieces that cannot be chipped will be the homeowner’s responsibility to remove.

Mowing: A piece of equipment with a mower head will then mow this area and mulch up any remaining brush, briars, and saplings.

There may be a two- to four-week gap between phases, during which you may notice branches accumulating. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

In addition to substation trimming, Harrison REMC contractor Kendall Vegetation Services will perform necessary trimming in other areas to help prevent outages. If you have concerns about vegetation that is outside of the above areas, please contact Harrison REMC at 812-738-4115.
