Youth TourThe Indiana Youth Tour to Washington, D.C., is an annual weeklong event giving students who’ve just finished their junior year in high school the opportunity to see the nation’s capital and the workings of our government in person.

But more than that, the all-expenses-paid tour creates lasting friendships and lifelong memories for the group of some four score students selected by participating electric cooperatives (REMCs and RECs) around the state who board the two motor coaches for the trip East.

Along the way, the tour stops at the Flight 93 National Memorial near Shanksville, Pa.; is given a guided tour of the Gettysburg, Pa., battlefield; and spends time visiting the national monuments, memorials and museums along the Washington Mall.

The week in Washington also includes a trip up Capitol Hill to meet Indiana lawmakers and offers insight into government and electric cooperatives.
