Kankakee Valley REMC is excited to announce its participants in this year’s Touchstone Energy Camp and Indiana Youth Tour to Washington, D.C. Students were selected from applications they submitted to the cooperative for each program.

In addition to the applications, students were required to complete an essay.

These all-expense-paid opportunities are sponsored by Kankakee Valley REMC in cooperation with Indiana Electric Cooperatives.

Seventh graders-to-be attending this year’s Touchstone Energy Camp at Camp Tecumseh in Brookston, Indiana include South Central Elementary School students Vanessa DeWitt, Georgia Wright, Brenden Perry, Caleb Calkin and Tatum Wade along with Ben Franklin Middle School student, Raegan O’Halek.

Indiana Youth Tour to Washington, D.C., provides incoming high school seniors the opportunity to not only gain a better understanding of their electric cooperative and government, but also a chance to experience American history as they tour our nation’s capital. The local students who will be joining the Indiana delegation on the trip are Michael DeHaven, Washington Township High School; Hannah Leffew, LaCrosse High School; and Matthew Sears, Washington Township High School.

Watch for more information on their experiences in future editions of the Electric Consumer.
