As your locally owned and operated power company, our operations team is close by and on call 24/7 to respond to power outages. We’ve implemented several programs to maintain our record of reliability, including maintenance, inspections, and tree trimming.
Sometimes though, you may lose power due to weather, vehicle accidents, maintenance work, or other factors.
If someone in your household relies on electricity-dependent medical equipment, we recommend having a plan for power outages. You can find helpful tips at ready.gov/power-outages.
If your power goes out
- The first thing you should do is check your electric service panel.
- If the main circuit breaker is in the tripped position (neither in the ON nor the OFF position), the outage is likely isolated to your location.
- Reset the breaker by firmly flipping to the OFF position and then to ON.
- If it trips again, you should call a licensed electrician.
- If you are a renter and suspect you’re the only one without power, contact your property manager or maintenance department.
If your main breaker is not tripped or if you believe the outage is affecting other homes or units, you should report it to Boone REMC.
- Use the SmartHub mobile app or log into your account from our website.
