KV Jr. Board
Sen. Ed Charbonneau shares stories with the Junior Board of Directors about his road to public service.

In October, KV REMC welcomed 10 students from six area schools to participate in its first Junior Board of Directors Program. This program focuses on bringing student leaders together to learn more about their community, strengthen their leadership skills and network with business professionals. The junior board of directors meets monthly at the co-op to conduct a meeting and participate in educational sessions.

Since the start of their journey, students have participated in a team-building session where they learned about their strengths relating to their leadership and core values. They have also discussed with area leaders how economic development and non-profits work together to build a thriving community offering residents critical services. State Senator Ed Charbonneau and State Representative Ed Soliday spent time with the students during a session on legislation. They shared stories about their road to public service and explained what makes their job exciting and challenging while giving real-life examples of how a bill becomes law. In addition, they answered the students’ questions, like what their favorite ice cream is.

You can continue to follow the journey of these bright young leaders on the KV REMC Facebook page.
