Congratulations to all the Southern Indiana Power linemen who competed in the Indiana Electric Cooperative Lineman Rodeo!

The IEC Lineman Rodeo is a statewide competition for linemen to compete, hone their skills and network with other linemen across the state. Skills on display included safety knowledge, pole climbing, teamwork and communication, to name a few.

Three Southern Indiana Power linemen competed in events that tested skills such as pole climbing, hurt man rescue and safely changing electric line hardware:

Travis Goffinet, foreman

Jim Applegate, journeyman lineman (Second place Overall Senior Journeyman; first place in Security Light Repair; second place in Hurt Man Rescue; and third place in Insulator Changeout.)

Clint Heeke, journeyman lineman

The Southern Indiana Power team was also awarded first place in the “Mystery” team event, which involved a downed wire.

“This competition is a terrific opportunity for our linemen to demonstrate their skills, along with networking and learning from other co-op linemen across the state. Travis, Jim and Clint demonstrated their desire to improve by coming in early to practice on our training station before work,” said Southern Indiana Power’s Manager of Operations Steve Fortwendel. “The Lineman Rodeo is a fantastic event.”

Thank you for representing Southern Indiana Power and making us proud!
