A flexible way to pay for power

Would it be easier to make weekly or bi-weekly payments instead of one large monthly bill? If so, Prepay Electric may be a good option for you.

Bartholomew County REMC’s Prepay Electric program lets residential members pay ahead for electricity and manage their account balances on their own schedules. You add money to your account as needed, and your electricity is used from that balance as energy is consumed.

• Pay what you want, when you want

Payments can be made online, by phone, or in our office, similar to filling up a gas tank. No security deposit is required. If an existing member switches to Prepay, any deposit on the account will be applied to the balance. Some restrictions apply.

LEVELIZED BILLING

Predictable monthly electric bills

Bartholomew County REMC offers Levelized Billing to help members manage their energy costs with more consistent monthly payments instead of seasonal highs and lows.

HOW IT WORKS

Your monthly payment is based on a rolling average of the past 12 months of electric bills, not just the current month’s use. Each new bill is added into the average while the oldest month drops off, so the amount may adjust slightly over time.

Each October, your account is reviewed and reconciled to make sure payments match your actual energy use. If there is a balance, it is spread out over the coming year to prevent a large catch-up payment.

THINGS TO KNOW

You must stay current on your account to remain enrolled. Late payments can result in removal from the program.

If you overpay, the credit stays on your account for future bills, but it does not automatically lower your next levelized payment.
