Kids are out of school, televisions are on and air conditioners are blasting. The summer heat has returned which can cause a rise in your electricity use. Since you and your family will most likely be spending more time at home during the summer, we have a variety of programs that will keep your house comfortable and your budget under control.

If you’d like to monitor your electric use, check out our free app called SmartHub. This app allows you to view and change account information, monitor and analyze your usage, and make payments in a secure environment. With SmartHub you can also see the low, high and average temperatures for each day. When temperatures rise, your air conditioner will be running more frequently to keep you cool. If it is 90 degrees outside and your thermostat is set to 78 degrees (recommended setting for summer) your A/C has to cool your house 12 degrees compared to the outdoor temperature. But when it’s 95 degrees outside, you’re A/C has to cool your home 17 degrees, meaning it will work harder, longer, and use more energy, even though your thermostat never changed. Check out this weather feature on SmartHub and see how your electric use changes from day to day, responding to the weather outside and your comfort level indoors.

We hope that you enjoy this tool to help understand your monthly electric bill. Don’t hesitate to contact our office if you ever have a question. Our member service team can help you save energy and money this summer.
