At Henry County REMC, were always looking for new ways to better serve you. That includes staying informed about how emerging technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) are reshaping the electric utility industry.

AI is more than just a tech buzzword. From the chat assistant weve recently added to our website to advanced data tools that help us anticipate outages or improve member services, AI is already making an impact in the way co-ops like ours operate. But let me be clear: AI isnt a crystal ball, and it certainly isnt a replacement for people. Its a tool that depends entirely on how its built, the data its given, and the purpose its meant to serve.

As this technology evolves, AI could help us predict outages more accurately, monitor grid conditions in real time, or even enhance the functionality of smart meters giving you more insight into your energy use and helping us respond faster during severe weather.

But as with any new tool, we move forward thoughtfully. Cybersecurity is a top priority, and were working closely with our generation and transmission partners to ensure that any new technologies adopted are secure, sustainable, and beneficial for our entire membership.

Technology is just one piece of the energy puzzle. Thats why Im especially excited about an opportunity coming up this month to focus on another big topic: solar energy.

On Saturday, Sept. 20, Henry County REMC will host a solar seminar at our facility. This event is open to both members and the broader community. Its designed to be an honest, informative session where local homeowners whove installed solar panels will share their experiences, including what worked well, challenges they faced, and what they learned along the way.

Whether youre considering solar or simply curious, I encourage you to attend. Its a great way to hear real stories and ask questions in a no-pressure environment. Details on how to register can be found in this issue.

At the end of the day, whether were talking about new technology or new sources of energy, our focus remains the same: serving our members with transparency, care, and a commitment to long-term value.

We look forward to seeing you soon.
