Since 2014, Heartland REMCs Operation Round Up program has proven that small acts of generosity can lead to big community wins. By rounding up the monthly electric bill to the nearest dollar, Heartland REMC members collectively raise funds distributed as grants to local nonprofits, schools, and community projects. The best part? Most members only donate about $6 a year.

Over the past decade, the program has awarded more than $280,000 in grants, all thanks to the generosity of Heartland REMC members. These funds have supported everything from volunteer fire departments and food pantries to youth programs and community improvement initiatives. Its a prime example of how cooperative values and member participation create real, tangible outcomes.

A group of volunteer trustee members oversees the grant process, ensuring that the money stays in our local communities and supports causes that align with our shared values. The trustees meet quarterly to distribute funds.

If youre not yet part of Operation Round Up, now is the perfect time to join. That spare change you dont even miss could be the reason a child gets a backpack, a shelter receives food, or a small-town park gets a needed upgrade.
