Bartholomew County REMC has a easy and convenient way residential members can pay for electricity. It’s called Prepay Electric, and it allows members to pay up front for electricity before they ever use a single kilowatt-hour!

Prepay Electric helps you control your budget by making payments into your account as you can afford to do so. Simply add money into your Bartholomew County REMC Prepay Electric account online, over the phone or in our office as your account needs to be filled — like filling up your gas tank! You will need to visit our office to sign up for the Prepay Electric option and make an initial $50 payment into your account to get the electricity flowing. No deposit is required for Prepay Electric, and members will not have late fees. Existing members who wish to switch to Prepay Electric will have their deposits applied to their accounts. Some restrictions apply.

What is prepaid metering? Prepaid metering offers the opportunity to pay when you want, in the amount you want. Instead of receiving a traditional paper bill generated once each month, use is calculated daily. Prepay customers never pay a late fee.

What are the benefits? Our customers who are unable or unwilling to pay the required service deposit to establish or maintain electric service enjoy immediate benefits with the Prepay program.

Is there a deposit for Prepay Electric service? Prepay customers are eligible to have their deposit waived or refunded and applied toward their current energy costs. This puts their deposit money working for them NOW instead of being held in their account to secure future service.

How do I know when my balance is low? Prepay Electric customers choose how they are notified when their balance is running low.  Notifications can be received via email or text message. Each customer chooses the balance at which he/she begins to receive notifications.

How do I make payments? Payments can be made in person, by telephone, or online. You can also view your use, balance information and notification settings.

How do I sign up? Call our office at 812-372-2546 for details. You will be asked to have your account current, including any unbilled use. For many customers, the deposit is enough to cover these charges.
