Whether you’re replacing an aging HVAC system, purchasing a new heat pump water heater, or even upgrading to electric lawn equipment, Henry County REMC can help make those investments more affordable through its 2026 rebate program.
“Our goal is to help members save money, not only on the purchase of new equipment, but on their monthly electric bills as well,” said Chelsi Jackson, project coordinator at Henry County REMC.
Henry County REMC partners with Hoosier Energy to offer rebates that encourage energy-efficient upgrades for both residential and commercial members. As older equipment wears out, it often becomes less efficient, using more electricity to do the same job. Replacing that equipment with newer, energy-efficient models can lower energy use and reduce monthly utility costs.
Some of the most popular residential rebates include incentives for air-source heat pumps, geothermal systems, ductless mini-split heat pumps, and heat pump water heaters. Members can also receive rebates for HVAC tune-ups, helping to ensure heating and cooling systems continue to operate at peak efficiency.
“Just like you change the oil in your car, your HVAC system needs regular maintenance,” Jackson explained. “A yearly tune-up helps keep the equipment running as efficiently as possible”
Another member favorite is the Electric Outdoor Equipment Rebate. Qualifying electric push and riding mowers, chainsaws, trimmers, leaf blowers, pressure washers, and tillers may all be eligible for rebates. As more manufacturers introduce high-performance battery-powered equipment, these tools are becoming an increasingly popular choice for homeowners.
Businesses and organizations can benefit, too. Henry County REMC offers commercial and industrial rebates for a variety of energy-saving improvements. Jackson said local schools, churches, and manufacturing facilities have already taken advantage of the program. One of the simplest and most cost-effective upgrades is switching from incandescent lighting to LED fixtures.
In fact, one local member who replaced incandescent bulbs with LEDs saw one of their lowest electric bills in nearly two decades. While many factors can affect electricity use, energy-efficient lighting is a proven way to reduce it.
Applying for a rebate is simple. Members complete the appropriate rebate application, submit proof of purchase, and provide any required documentation for the equipment. Most rebates are processed within a few weeks after all paperwork is received.

- Electric outdoor equipment
Commercial and industrial rebate opportunities are also available.
To qualify, upgrades or services must be completed during 2026, and applications must be submitted by Dec. 15, 2026. Members should include a completed rebate application and proof of purchase. Please allow four to six weeks for processing.
