Homemade Ice Cream

  • 3 envelopes unflavored gelatin
  • ¾ cup cold water
  • 6 cups milk
  • 5 t. vanilla
  • ¾ t. salt
  • 1 qt. whipping cream
  • 1 can evaporated filled milk
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 box (3.4-oz.) instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 2 t. baking powder
  • 1 cup maple syrup (optional)


Soak gelatin in cold water. Heat 5 cups of milk until hot but not boiling. Remove from heat. Add gelatin and stir until dissolved. Add vanilla, sugar, salt and maple syrup.

Then, cool and add cream and evaporated milk. Chill for five to six hours.

Mix pudding in a little milk until dissolved and pour all ingredients, including baking powder into a freezing can.

Add additional milk as needed.
