Crystal chandeliers can overheat

Crystal chandeliers sold exclusively at Home Depot stores have been recalled. Halogen bulbs sold with the chandeliers can melt parts of the fixture, posing fire and burn hazards. The recall involves Home Decorators Collection 4-Light Crystal Chandeliers, model number 19161-4. The model number can be found on the top of the unit. The chrome ceiling fixture has dangling crystals, weighs about 16 pounds and has four 50-watt halogen bulbs. Home Depot stores nationwide sold the chandelier from October 2015 through February 2017 for about $220.

Consumers should contact Lumicentro Internacional S.A. for a free upgrade kit which includes 5 watt LED bulbs, suction cup, upgraded installation manual and new warning labels. The new labels identify that the fixture is only rated for LED bulbs with a maximum of 6.5 allowable wattage.

Cub Cadet recalls utility vehicles

Cub Cadet has recalled 2016 Challenger CX500 and CX700 utility vehicles. Air in the brake system can cause brake failure. The recalled vehicles were manufactured from March 2016 through November 2016 and were sold from March 2016 through May 2017. Consumers should contact Cub Cadet customer service to arrange for a free repair. Cub Cadet has received 80 reports of brake failure but no injuries.

Swimming pool motor poses electrical shock hazard

EcoTech EZ variable speed pool motor has been recalled; the pump control cover can be improperly grounded, posing an electrical hazard. This recall involves motors with a programmable user interface on the top. “Emerson” or “EcoTech EZ” is printed on top of the control box. The pumps were sold at retail stores and pool suppliers from September 2010 through October 2016 for between $400 and $500. Consumers should contact Nidec Motor Corp. to schedule a free repair by a qualified technician.

Electrocution leads to recall of electric ranges

The electrocution of a plumber has led to the recall Blomberg and Summit brand electric ranges. A screw to secure a grounding strap was not installed during manufacturing which may cause the ranges to become energized. This recall involves Blomberg BERU 24200 SS, BERU 24100 SS and Summit CLRE24 24-inch wide freestanding glass top electric ranges. The ranges were sold nationwide from October 2012 through March 2017 for between $1,000 and $1,500.
