Bartholomew County REMC has an easy and convenient way residential members can pay for electricity. It’s called Prepay, and it allows members to pay up front for electricity before they ever use a single kilowatt-hour!

Prepay helps you control your budget by making payments into your account as you can afford to do so. Simply add money into your Bartholomew County REMC Prepay account online, over the phone, or in our office as your account needs to be filled – like filling up your gas tank!

Sign up for the Prepay option and make an initial payment into your account to get the electricity flowing. No deposit is required for Prepay, and members will not have late fees. Existing members who wish to switch to Prepay will have any deposit applied to their accounts. Some restrictions apply.

Prepay Electricity: Q&A

Would it be easier for you to make weekly or bi-weekly payments rather than one large payment each month? If so, Prepay may be for you.

Q: What is Prepaid Metering?

A. Prepaid metering offers the opportunity to pay when you want, in the amounts you want. Instead of receiving a traditional paper bill that is generated once each month, usage is calculated daily. Prepay customers never pay a late fee.

Q: What are the Benefits?

A: Our members who are unable or unwilling to pay the required service deposit to establish or maintain electric service enjoy immediate benefits with the Prepay program.

Q: Is There a Deposit for Prepay Service?

A: Prepay members are eligible to have their deposit waived or refunded and applied toward your current energy costs. This allows your deposit money to start working for you NOW instead of being held on your account to secure future service.

Q: How Do I Know When My Balance Is Low?

A: Prepay members choose how they are notified when their balance is running low. Notifications can be received via email or text message. Each Prepay member chooses the balance at which they begin to receive notifications.

Q: How Do I Make Payments?

A: Payments can be made in person, by telephone or online. You can also view your usage, balance information and notification settings online.

Q: How Do I Sign Up?

A: Just call our office at 812-372-2546 for details. You will be asked to have your account current, including any unbilled usage. For many members, the deposit is enough to cover these charges.
