October is National Co-op Month. With COVID safety in mind, we can’t celebrate with our usual giveaways and cook-outs. But we can still share with each other what it means to be part of a co-op.

First, we want to hear your favorite co-op stories. Did you have a life-changing experience by attending Youth Tour to Washington, D.C.? Or maybe you recall hearing your grandparents talk about how REMC brought electricity to their farm in the 1930s. If you’ll share your story with us, you’ll be entered for a chance to win a $50 bill credit, and the best stories will be printed in December for all of our members to enjoy.

Second, we know that our youngest members are the future of our co-op. They will be our future linemen and engineers and board members and so many other co-op roles. No matter the job title, we all do our best to keep each other safe. So we’ve included a coloring page where kids can create and color their own safety superhero, and tell us why safety is so important. Send that back to us and we will award the best entries with a gift card to say thanks.

And third, since we can’t pass out treats at our office, we’re hosting REMC Day at Chillers in Sellersburg on Thursday, Oct. 22nd. Mention REMC or bring your coupon to get 20% off your order, paid by REMC. Ice cream makes everything better!

The times are certainly different than in 2019, but we are still co-op strong, and we will power on together.
