Over the last several years, Southern Indiana Power has been engaged in a thorough planning process to determine the facilities needed to serve our members now and well into the future. After considering several options, including building a new headquarters, we determined that the best decision was to stay at our current location, 1776 10th Street in Tell City, and invest in improvements to our existing headquarters.

The project will include a new shop and vehicle/equipment storage area, along with a dedicated space for employee meetings and training. In addition, several important renovations are planned for the existing buildings, originally constructed in the late 1970’s. New roofs for the shop, office building, and old warehouse, as well as additional restrooms, a new IT/server room, a new HVAC system, new windows, and added insulation are all included in the project. Our goal is to bring our headquarters up to today’s energy efficiency standards while improving the space we use to serve our members every day.

The project was designed by Universal Design Associates and competitively bid, with the lowest bidder, Seufert Construction, selected as the general contractor. Seufert Construction estimates the project will take approximately two years. We have worked carefully to minimize disruption to our members during construction, and while temporary offices will be needed for a brief period, we do not anticipate any major inconvenience.

Financial planning for this project has been underway for several years. Our current plan is to use funds available through the Rural Utility Service (RUS) that have already been invested in our outside utility plant. By using this financial strategy, we expect the investment in our headquarters to have little to no impact on members’ bills.

This investment reflects Southern Indiana Power’s commitment to preparing its headquarters for the future while ensuring it remains well-positioned to serve our members for many years to come.
