Kankakee Valley REMC’s fourth annual “Pack A Backpack” supply drive is going on now until July 31. As part of Kankakee Valley REMC’s commitment to the community and focus on our youth, we want to help out students whose families might be struggling and could use a little extra help in purchasing school supplies. Last year, we gave over 150 backpacks away to area elementary and middle schools, and this year we would like to grow that number.

To do this, we need your support in donating school supplies and backpacks that will be delivered to local schools and distributed by school personnel. Supplies needed include: bookbags, crayons, colored pencils, #2 pencils, glue sticks, glue, rulers, school boxes, clipboards, adult scissors, scissors (round tip), dry-erase markers, Scotch tape, erasers, highlighters, boxes of tissues, spiral notebooks and pocket folders.

Supplies can be dropped off at the following locations: Kankakee Valley REMC, LaCrosse Public Library, Wanatah Public Library, Union Mills Public Library, and Kouts Public Library. Monetary donations can also be accepted at the Kankakee Valley REMC office.

Next time you are shopping, take a minute to visit the school supply aisle and help support our program. All donations stay local and will help students have a great start to their school year.
