As a member of Kankakee Valley REMC, you have an opportunity to support Operation Round Up by simply rounding up your electric bill each month. Your contributions, typically no more than $12 per year, go to support non-profits in the community. Below are the organizations who received financial support during the second quarter grant distribution.

LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office will purchase a new drone with the $3,500 grant it was awarded. Drones have assisted law enforcement with search and rescue operations, disaster response and structure fires.

HealthLinc offers a variety of health care services targeting uninsured, underserved and low-income individuals at its 12 clinic sites in five counties. The $1,000 grant will aid with programs HealthLinc offers to assist its clients in Starke County.

The Starke County Extension Homemakers will use their $1,000 grant to purchase books and activity supplies for 65 students in the Head Start program in Starke County.

Starke County Youth Club (SCYC), Inc., received $3,484 to support its six week summer youth program entitled Creatures and Creativity. Founded by concerned citizens who knew that Starke County children were spending too many hours unsupervised, SCYC exists to support children and families through after-school and summer program sites and enrichment programs.
