As a member-consumer of Kankakee Valley REMC, you have a unique opportunity to support Operation Round Up by simply rounding up your electric bill each month. Here are the organizations you helped to support in December.

San Pierre Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. received a $5,436 grant to replace the department’s current electric hand tools with more efficient battery-operated tools. These tools will assist in making rescues easier for first responders.

Community Services of Starke County was awarded $1,500 to support their services. Since 1977, Community Services of Starke County has been providing services to the elderly and low-income allowing them to maintain their independence in their home. In 2021, they provided service to 974 households.

Westville Community Volunteer Fire Department (WVFD) will purchase hot sticks with their $1,600 grant. The five hot sticks will be placed on the department vehicles most likely to respond to a call involving power lines. WVFD is comprised of 16 volunteers that respond to roughly 600 calls per year.

Family House, located in Valparaiso, was the recipient of a $3,000 grant to support their Nurturing Parenting program. Family House was established to provide children from distressed families with a safe, supervised, home-like location to build healthy relationships with their non-custodial parents.
