It’s spare change that makes a big difference. Thanks to our participating members for allowing their bills to be rounded-up each month to the nearest dollar. Since the beginning of the program in January of 2002, over $725,000 has been given back to our community. The money has been used by organizations who serve all sectors of our community; youth, seniors, young families, and everyone in-between.
The following organizations recently received Operation Round Up funds:
Youth for Christ of Northern Indiana received $1,000 to support Campus Life programming at Westview Jr./Sr. High School and Lakeland Jr./Sr. High School, including weekly core student leader meetings, connections made during school lunches and sporting events, Campus Life club meetings, events and trips for teens in LaGrange County.
Community Improvement League Inc. of South Milford received $1,000 to help pay for a mural to be painted on the side of the building at the corner of SR 3 and 750 South. The mural will also be an addition to LaGrange County’s Art in the Heart Trail.
YMCA Camp Potawatomi received $1,000 to fund a community day at its camp. The event took place on Saturday, May 10, and featured all the normal camp activities as well as local vendors representing their businesses and community service members (police, fire departments, etc.).
Prairie Heights High School Giving Tree received $1,000 to address a critical, yet often overlooked, need: the provision of essential hygiene products and gifts for students in need. These items include toiletries, feminine hygiene products, deodorants, soaps and other necessary supplies.
Kate’s Kart, Inc. received $1,500 to purchase children’s books to be given to children when they are patients at Parkview LaGrange Hospital. The money will impact 240 hospitalized children and their families.
Brighton Chapel-Local Outreach Fund received $2,500 to support a food drive that takes place once a month, all year long. They also support BC on the Road, which travels to county parks, hotels and trailer parks during the summer to provide meals. They also supply food in their Food Box, which supports the local community.
Ark Animal Rescue & Adoption, Inc. received $1,000 to replace the fluorescent lighting in the Ark Paws and Claws Bookstore in Howe. They plan to install energy efficient LED lighting. The bookstore served 7,400 people in 2024.
