What’s changing?

Current meter: records your usage and sends those readings to REMC through the power lines.

New meter: uses radio frequency and two-way communication to send data across a secure wireless network.

Benefits include:

In most cases, new meters will notify Clark County REMC the moment the power goes out. This allows us to start the restoration process sooner.

Remote capabilities mean fewer miles on our trucks and lower carbon emissions.

Wireless communication means starting and stopping service can happen almost immediately.

Advanced safety features

  • Temperature sensors alert us if a meter is overheating.
  • Tilt sensors alert us if a meter is beginning to detach.
  • Backfeed alerts help protect our crews when they are out working.
  • Tampering alerts let us know when someone is illegally tampering with the meter, protecting our from theft and injury.
