New look on an annual tradition

It’s a new day and age.

People’s schedules fill up faster than ever. Between commuting to and from work, driving kids to their practices and volunteering in the community, free time is slim and convenience means everything.

That’s why we’ve decided to make changes to the LaGrange County REMC Annual Meeting to allow more members than ever to take part both in the celebration and in the voting of our board of directors.

You may be accustomed to marking off the second Saturday in June for our annual meeting. But with all the activities that are scheduled for Saturday mornings, we’ve moved our annual meeting forward a day to Friday, June 12, to accommodate those busy schedules.

The new time – 4:30-7 p.m. – will also hopefully allow more members to stop by after work to join us for a porkburger, or allow those who have plans later in the evening enough time to start the celebration a little early with us.

Though it’s a new date and time, the amount of fun hasn’t changed. You’ll still receive your $10 bill credit for attending, while also being able to enjoy a free porkburger dinner, interact with fellow members and community organizations, and entertain the kids with bounce houses, clowns and an exotic animal display.

We understand that even with the date and time change, some may still not be able to make it.

That’s why we’re expanding how you can vote for your directors.

This year, you’ll be able to cast your vote at the annual meeting, as usual, or by new means through the mail or online. (See page 7.)

With the advances in technology, we’re now able to provide these options to give every member the ability to vote, allowing even more voices to be heard.
