Behind every Operation Round Up grant is a group of local people committed to strengthening the communities they call home.
The Decatur County REMC Community Trust is administered by seven volunteer trustees, with one person representing each of Decatur County REMC’s director districts. These trustees are cooperative members and community, civic, educational, governmental, or business leaders who bring valuable local knowledge to the grant-review process.
At least twice each year, the trustees come together to review funding requests from organizations serving communities throughout the Decatur County REMC service area. They carefully consider the needs presented, discuss the potential impact of each project, and determine how available Operation Round Up funds can make the greatest difference.
Trustees receive no compensation for their service. They give their time because they understand their communities and believe in supporting the people and organizations working to make them stronger.
Trustees are selected by the Decatur County REMC Board of Directors and generally serve three-year terms, with a limit of two consecutive terms. This structure allows each trustee time to learn about the program and its responsibilities while also welcoming new perspectives to the board over time.
The funds entrusted to them come from participating Decatur County REMC members who voluntarily round up their monthly electric bills to the next whole dollar. While each contribution may be small, together they provide meaningful support for charitable, educational, and community-focused efforts close to home.
Thank you to the dedicated members of the Community Trust for generously giving their time, sharing their community knowledge, and thoughtfully turning our members’ collective generosity into meaningful local impact.
