Boone REMC crews do routine maintenance on overhead wire near Whitestown. Whitestown has been the fastest growing city in Indiana for the last nine out of 10 years. A veteran Journeyman Lineman, Dave Culley has seen most of the changes to the area.

This year is expected to be the busiest year to date for Boone REMC. Last year, the cooperative had over 700 new services, which was a record year. Preliminary numbers are showing that new services will probably be over 1,000 this year. This is based on projections of over 700 lots in 11 different subdivisions and over 900 units in four different apartment facilities. This projection is also based on 30 new three-phase projects.

“These numbers are based on lots and units, so it doesn’t mean that they will all be filled,” Vice President of Operations Jeff Dickerson said. “However, based on the growth we’ve seen over the past few years, and the development that is planned, we anticipate over 1,000 new services.”

Currently, Boone REMC has nearly 16,000 members. The service territory includes parts of Boone, Clinton, Hamilton, Hendricks and Montgomery counties.

As the first electric cooperative in the state, Boone REMC has also served the fastest growing city of Whitestown (for the last nine out of 10 years).
