Last month, I shared how your participation in the time-of-use (TOU) rate helped the cooperative reduce power costs, and how we returned those savings to you through the one-time Power Savings Credit on your December bill. Your efforts made a real impact, and I would like to thank each of you for the role you played in this success.
I’m excited to share the next step and what you will see on your bill beginning this month. Starting with your January statement, you will notice a new line titled Power Cost Adjustment (PCA). The PCA is a tool that allows us to adjust the per-kilowatt-hour cost to reflect real-time changes in wholesale power costs without changing our rates.
Here’s the great news: thanks to the strong response to TOU rates and the overall reduction in our power costs, we will begin January with a negative PCA, lowering your rate by approximately 6%. This benefit is the result of your choice to use energy during off-peak times, such as running appliances during off-peak times, cooling your home strategically, and being mindful of when you use energy. Your commitment has made these savings possible and shows the success that can be achieved when we work together.
Don’t forget our website still offers a time-of-use calculator. By entering the kWh from your bill, you can see how your choices affect your costs. You can find it here: kvremc.com/my-account/time-of-use.
When we all commit to using energy off-peak, the results add up, and we will continue to see these savings reflected on every bill. Thank you again for your participation and dedication. Your smart energy choices are making a difference. If you have any questions about your bill or the PCA, please don’t hesitate to contact our office; we’re always here to help.
