Every few years, I meet with our board of directors and leadership team to set a clear path forward for Clark County REMC. Our last strategic planning session was in 2022, shortly after I joined the cooperative. Now, its time to look ahead again and in the coming months, Ill share our updated goals for the next three to five years.
Before we do that, I want to highlight the progress we’ve made since 2022:
System upgrades: We committed to modernizing our technology, including new meters and outage tools. That plan is well underway. More than a thousand new meters have already been installed, with 6,000 more to go this year and full deployment by 2027.
Facility needs: We’ve maximized the use of every square foot of our current facility. Its clear we will need more space in the future, and were carefully evaluating our options.
Community engagement: From annual community service days to safety demos and student programs, we’ve strengthened our presence and impact in the communities we serve.
Safety first: Safety remains our top priority. We’ve fostered a culture where hard conversations happen, smart decisions are made, and continuous improvement is the norm.
Member-focused energy solutions: We’ve created an EV rate, boosted our solar buyback rate, hosted educational seminars, and hired a dedicated staff member to support members exploring new energy technologies.
Broadband: After a feasibility study, we learned that a full-scale fiber buildout isn’t financially viable at this time. However, we remain open to partnerships if the right opportunity arises.
I look forward to sharing our new strategic goals soon, and as always, your feedback is welcome.
