Local organizations receive Operation Round Up grants

Operation Round Up awards local non-profits with grants to support the work they do in the community. The Marshall County REMC Operation Round Up Board awarded $6,952.45 to the following organizations:

Argos Fire Territory received funding to assist with the cost of purchasing vehicle stabilization struts to stabilize vehicles after an accident and perform rescues. Argos Fire Territory provides aid in times of need for emergencies and community events.

The John Glenn Football program received funding to support their growing team and assist in providing clothing, football equipment, and meals for the players. John Glenns High School football program aims to instill values of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance while providing a positive and competitive experience for student-athletes.

Oakhaven Community received funding to assist with the cost of planters and flowers for residents to select, plant, and maintain while providing a meaningful activity to promote abundant living. Oakhaven Community offers affordable housing options for low-income elderly adults.

Plymouth Community School Corporation received funding to purchase an Automated Defibrillator Trainer for training their staff in AED use. The corporations mission is to educate and equip every student for success, operating as a professional learning community.

Potawatomi Wildlife Park received funding to support its visitor center, where it hosts field trips, workshops, and numerous individual visitors. Potawatomi Wildlife Parks mission is to connect people with nature, local history, and community through low-impact recreation and educational programming.

The Operation Round Up program allows Marshall County REMC members to support worthy causes in the community and work together to help others. Thank you to those members who round up their electric bill to the next highest dollar each month and to the Marshall County Community Foundation for making these donations possible.

The next round of grants will be awarded in October. Charitable organizations within the Marshall County REMC service territory are eligible to apply. Organizations may be granted only once in a 12-month period. They do not have to be members of Marshall County REMC. Applications are available at marshallremc.com.
