Lineman graduates from apprenticeship program

Marshall County REMC is proud to announce Chris Ennis, journeyman lineman, graduated from the Rural Electric Apprenticeship Program (REAP). REAP is a four-year program for apprentices who wish to become electric linemen.

Ennis attended more than 500 hours of classroom instruction and related study, and he completed 8,000 hours of on-the-job training.

Several phases of training were part of the apprenticeship program. These included climbing, bucket material/hot line, regulator, staking, underground, substation, meter and rubber glove school.

In addition to the journeyman’s certificate, Ennis earned an associate degree from Ivy Tech Community College upon completion of the program.
